Helping Wellington homeowners to create calm, cohesive homes with clarity, direction and confidence.
When your home doesn't feel right, it's hard to know what to change.
You might have ideas, pieces you like, or plans you've been sitting on — but bringing everything together in a way that works can feel overwhelming.
You find yourself second-guessing decisions, changing things that don't solve the real problem, and wondering why your home still doesn't feel quite right.
It's not a lack of taste.
It's a lack of clarity.
Hi I’m Nicci Tong
Home Improvement Consultant & Interior Designer at Homes with Soul.
I help homeowners understand what's working, what's not, and where to focus next — so they can stop second-guessing decisions and move forward with confidence.
Together, we define a clear direction for your home, so every change feels more intentional and connected to the bigger picture.
Wellington homes have their own character — and their own challenges.
Many Wellington homes have evolved over decades through renovations, additions, changing family needs, and a mix of old and new furnishings.
Over time, it becomes harder to see what's really working, what's causing friction, and where your money will have the greatest impact.
A different way to approach your home.
I don't believe you need to start again to create a home that feels right.
The Homes with Soul approach begins by understanding what you already have, how you live and what isn't working — before deciding what needs to change.
From there, we create clarity around what matters most, where to focus your investment and what your home could become.
The result isn't a list of things to buy. It's a clearer way forward.
"Working with Nicci gave me peace of mind about my long-term design decisions. Instead of going round in circles, I now have a clear plan to guide me as I invest in my home over time. Nicci has such a great eye for colour and a practical, sustainable approach to working with what you already have. I loved her energy and wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again.”

I don't start with what you should buy or change. I start by understanding what already belongs.
The Homes with Soul Method looks at your home as a whole, considers what is already working and identifies where changes will make the greatest difference.
The focus is on thoughtful, considered decisions rather than following trends or replacing things for the sake of it.
You pay directly for my design expertise, so my recommendations aren't influenced by product commission or supplier margins.
-
Absolutely.
In fact, making the most of what you already have is one of the foundations of the Homes with Soul approach.
We'll identify the pieces worth keeping and building on, and only recommend changes where they'll make the greatest difference.
-
Absolutely.
I work with clients throughout New Zealand, with many aspects of the Homes with Soul Method able to be delivered virtually using photographs, video calls and guided walkthroughs.
For clients outside my usual in-person service area, the experience can be adapted to work virtually.

Every Homes with Soul journey begins with a Home Clarity Session.
It's a relaxed working session where we look at your home together, talk through what's working and what's not, and identify where your time, energy and budget could make the greatest difference.
You don't need to know exactly what you need before we meet.
Start with clarity, and we'll work out what comes next together.
Ready to see what's possible for your home?
The Home Clarity Session is your first step towards clarity.
